BikePark Wales Women’s Weekend - Update

Posted on 05 Jul 2017

BikePark Wales is excited to announce that our Women’s Weekend is back for 2017. This event will build on the success of the first ever BikePark Wales women’s event in 2016 and this year to shake things up a little… Tickets for this event are FREE! The emphasis of the weekend is on relaxed fun on and off the bike in a friendly environment with the aim of connecting female riders in a supportive and educational environment.

What’s included with my ticket?

Each ticket includes your pedal pass for the day so you can use all of our trails for the full day.  You will also receive one free uplift run, if you wish to purchase runs on the uplift you can do so on the day at £4 per run. On top of all this you will also have access to the Shimano workshop classes, Mojo suspension set up sessions, group rides with pro riders and Q&A sessions (with tea and cake!).

Who’s coming?

We’ve got a great line up of brands and long-time partners of the park that will be onsite with a wide range of kit on display, to test and for sale. The really exciting news is that we will have many of the UK's top riders present to mix with other female riders, enjoy the trails and relax.

Manon carpenter, Veronique Sandler and Tracy Moseley will be leading a group rides throughout the weekend along with informal Q+A sessions in the yurt afterwards over a hot drink and a piece delicious Clam’s cake. Top coach and Elite DH racer Katy Curd will also be onsite all weekend offering coaching sessions (booked separately).

If last year is anything to go by, all Mojo’s female visitors reported significant improvements in their bike’s handling and performance after a session with their tech gurus...result.

Specific focus will be on:
Air Pressure - Setting sag to suit your weight
Rebound - Too fast or too slow? Let’s find the correct balance
Compression - Low and high speed… huh? Don’t worry we will give you real world examples so you can better understand it for future adjustments
Maintenance - Look after your suspension and reap the benefits in performance

What about the uplift?

Your ticket will include one free uplift and you will be able to buy additional runs at £4 per run at the reception or £5 cash to the uplift driver. We’ll also have a separate pickup point for the Women’s weekend so whilst it will be a busy weekend you should be able to get onto the bus much quicker.

Coaching

Due to restrictions on group size spaces for coaching with Katy Curd are very limited. Spaces for coaching are booked separately and are not included in the standard day ticket. For the lucky few who managed to book a space you will be contacted separately and provided with more pre-course information. We have a VERY limited number of additional tickets available for Saturday, if you wish to book please email womensweekend@bikeparkwales.com (tickets will be first come first served)

Our head coach Griff will also be running women’s specific coaching session throughout the weekend. If you would like to book a coaching space with Griff please head over to the coaching page on our website and book your space.

Group rides

Manon and Veronique will be leading a group rides on Saturday and Sunday. The group rides aren’t a race so don’t feel like you need to be a world cup racer to join in. Each ride will use the Beast of Burden to climb to the top and then will descend on a mixture of blue and red trails.

Park introduction guided ride

Whilst our trails start from an intermediate level and are more challenging than your classic trail centre, we know that many riders just need a little help to build confidence. Our park introduction guided ride will be led by two experienced and fully qualified mountain bike coaches. Unlike a group ride they will be able to ride with you and give you help and guidance along the way. This ride will use the beast of burden climb and will descend on blue trails. Unlike the coaching courses you do not need to pre-book a space for this ride.

This event is now fully booked. If you have any questions please send us an email to womensweekend@bikeaparkwales.com
