Name a trail Competition

Posted on 24 Apr 2018

As many of you will know, as of the 1st of June the National Grid will be replacing the power lines that run over part of the park. As a result, we’ll need to close Roots Manoeuvres, 50 Shades of Black and the lower sections of Terrys Belly and Hot Stepper. Looking from a glass half full side of life, the National Grid have been awesome and have made a significant contribution to help us open two new red trails and one black trail!

We’re excited to have Abercanaid Community School coming up with a name for the new top red trail and the BPW staff will be thinking up a name for the new black trail. This is where you come in, we need a name for the new lower red trail…

So, what exactly is this ‘lower Red Trail’? We’ve put together a little info to help get those creative juices flowing.

The ‘Lower Red’ trail starts off the middle forest road just to the right-hand side of Willy Waver. It gently works its way across the hill with plenty of roots that form a section of relatively technical singletrack through the trees.

Upon leaving the woodland the trail speeds up a gear and features a section of fun larger jumps and fast berms before entering the more natural lower section of the trail running through the ancient woodland.

This lower part of the trail features large rock slabs, scree slopes and boulders that make Gethin Woodland so unique, here riders have to pick their line carefully through the scree slopes and over large slabs of rock as they hurtle their way down to the bottom.

Just before hitting the uplift for another run, riders will be greeted with a series of bar dragging berms and rollers that will leave them buzzing for another run.

If you think you have a name that fits this trail we want to hear from you! To be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is put your suggestion in the comments below or on our Facebook / Instagram post.

The winner will be selected on Tuesday the 1st of May, good luck!

*Please note if we have multiple suggestions of the winning name the first person to comment with that name will be the winner.
