Mart's Ramblings June 2024

Posted on 30 May 2024

I’m pretty sure I wrote something about summer arriving last month.  Well, it seems to have come and gone, then come back again, and left again?!  Regardless of the weather it has been good times at BPW over the last month with a plethora of new sections of trail opening, all of which have made really positive changes to already awesome trails.

Of course, the big news is that A470 Line finally opened after being closed for the whole winter.  The team have really battled with the elements on this one but it has been worth the wait and A470 really is an iconic world class jump trail now, the flow is exceptional and the opportunities for air time seemingly never ending. Well done trail crew!  I may or may not have ridden A470 three times yesterday…

Other trails that have seen significant improvements include Vicious Valley (you MUST ride this), Wibbly Wobbly, Locomotion, Rim Dinger, Black Adder, Willy Waver, Zut Alors, Surfin’ Bird and Snakebite.  Opening in the next few days after facelifts will be Fforest Bump and Hard Shoulder as well as the all-new dedicated top section of Vicious Valley.  The trail crew are on fire right now so be sure to come and sample their hard work!

You may have heard through the grapevine that we recently received planning permission for a major expansion to the trail network and some changes to our uplift road.  This is super exciting for us and is something we have been working on behind the scenes for more than 5 years now.  We still have a bit of red tape to negotiate before we can break ground but it’s an exciting time and we look forward to sharing some even bigger news in July that relates to how we operate on the mountain and an incredible scheme we are launching with Natural Resources Wales to  improve the environment within the bike park.  We are so proud of this work and can’t wait to share the details with you soon.

For now though, it’s time to make the most of those windows of sunshine and get out and ride.  This on/off rain does mean trail conditions are fantastic, even of it does mean getting caught in the odd shower!

 Until next month
