BikePark Wales is the UK’s number one mountain bike facility located at Merthyr Tydfil on the edge of the Brecon Beacons national park just 25 minutes north of central Cardiff. The park is now an internationally recognised destination and a mecca for mountain bikers, descending on Myndd Gethin, a 491-metre summit.
BikePark Wales is a young, successful business which is growing fast. The current offering includes over 40 world class mountain bike trails, a vehicular uplift service, café, bike shop, bike hire, coaching and events but an ambitious development plan is now underway to both improve the existing services and add new products to the existing site.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate Chef to assist in the production and delivery of our entire F&B offering at BikePark Wales. There will be a focus on quality, local produce and creating visually appealing dishes/displays. The right candidate will have a keen eye for ensuring food quality and H&S procedures are followed properly.
This is an exciting area to be joining with multiple units and services throughout the day, providing a fast-paced and varied day.
Reporting through to the Head Chef, the key roles for the Chef will be focussing on the quality and consistency of food output, adhering to and recording everything required within our HACCP and stock control/ordering.
The successful candidate will have a background in busy, casual dining kitchens and most importantly be able to show a passion for producing great food.
The ideal candidate will be a fun, engaging individual who has an interest in mountain biking and/or the outdoors. You have to be willing to get stuck into all aspects of a busy F&B environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Preparation of food and cooking of dishes in line with agreed specifications
· Stock control and ordering
· Maintaining order within dry store and refrigerated areas, including day dotting of all items
· Monitoring of bought items to ensure getting best produce from suppliers
· Ensuring a high standard of cleaning for the entire F&B area
· Maintaining daily and weekly records as specified in our HACCP
· Monitoring of equipment and making sure any defects are reported
· Opening and closing of department including cash handling and closing of POS system
· Work with Head Chef on development of menus to ensure they are seasonal, relevant, and appropriately costed
· Maintaining allergen information alongside changing menus and suppliers
· Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job
Key Attributes:
Minimum level 2 food hygiene trained
Previous chef experience in a casual dining setting
Passion for producing great food
Impeccable food hygiene with a good understanding of HACCP
Hard working and reliable
Great team working skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail Understanding of stock, pricing and its movement
Desirable attributes would include:
Background in baked goods
Barista experience
Point of sale experience
Fluent Welsh speaker
Desirable skills:
· Trained Barista
· Food Hygiene Level 3 and above
· Ability to communicate in the Welsh language
· A keen interest in MTB and BikePark Wales
· Enhanced DBS certificate
· First Aid Qualifications
