Bike wash is go

Posted on 29 Apr 2016

We aren't quite sure where to begin with this one!  As most of you who have visited BPW in the last 18 months will know, our bike wash has been less than reliable... The problem lies in our somewhat unenviable position of being a completely off-grid facility, all of our power and water for the site is created right here at BPW.  When we designed the centre back in 2011 we hadn't anticpated the volume of visitors we now get to the park each weekend and as such everything from the diameter of our water pipes to the size of our tank and the power supply was under specced.  We knew we had a problem but solving it wasn't an easy task.

When we carried out our customer survey at the end of 2015 the bike wash was high on the list of requested improvements from our visitors so we decided we needed to prioritise a fix.  Around this time we got chatting to the lovely folk at Muc-Off who were interested in forming a partnership with us here at BPW.  A plan was drawn up and we worked out what we needed to do to fix the bike wash.  New pipework, a massive increase in water storage capacity and some work on the pumps.  It wasn't going to be cheap but it needed to be done and with some help from Muc-Off we are pleased to report our bike wash is now up to spec and working nicely.  We have great water pressure and a greatly increased capacity so hopefully we won't run out water every weekend now!  We've even got some lovely new Muc-Off branding in the wash bays.

You can now go home from your visit to BPW with a sparkling bike.  Sorry it took so long but we got there in the end!

The Muc-Off team came to test the new facility, enjoy a ride and try out some new products this week. They gave it the thumbs up and had a great day on the trails
